Julia is an experienced and passionate painter who works in both oil and watercolor. She has been
painting and showing her art work for many years. Her paintings can be found in both private and public
collections.
She is known for her vibrant semi-realistic paintings with a poetic vision of the urban and natural
landscapes of PEI and beyond. She draws inspiration from her early training as a stage designer in
theatre and her famous artist parents, Joseph and Tela Purcell of Lunenburg NS.
She enjoys her invitations to run live painting workshops and demonstrations for artist groups and
businesses around PEI. Julia partners with the Market in the summer to offer a low-cost weekly art
session through July and August called Wednesday Workshops at the Farmers Market. Drop by her
