Tomorrow!

The Power of Produce starts up tomorrow! Come on down and sign up your child, free of charge! Give them the great experience of learning while having fun! The P.O.P. program will be held every Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM. Your child will be educated in the wonderful world of produce and local farming! They’ll be having so much fun they won’t notice that they’re learning! To top off their fun filled learning experiences, the children will be receiving a $2 P.O.P. coin to spend at one of the fresh produce market vendors. They can then take the produce home and together you can cook a healthy, and tasty meal!

Power Of Produce!

Calling all parents and guardians! Do you want your kids to understand the importance of supporting local farmers while they have so much fun they don’t even realize that they’re learning? Then the Power Of Produce is the program for you! Starting July 7th, and every following Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM, you can sign your child (between the ages of 5 and 12) up for an 8 week program that will be filled to the brim with fun, educational activities. Activities include a field trip to a bee hive where the children will learn about the importance of bees in our community, planting seed and taking them home for the kids to watch them grow and much more! At the end of the day, the children will each get a $2 market token so that they can buy their own piece of produce to take home. There is no charge for this program.

Mission Of The Power Of Produce Club

The Power of Produce Club is a program being offered by the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market Coop to empower kids to make healthy food choices. The program introduces kids from ages 5-12 on where their food comes from through healthy eating and environmental education.

How does it work?

Each week kids will receive one $2 token to purchase fruit & vegetables from Market farmers. Attendance will be kept in the child’s personal Passport to Health kept in a file at the Market. Each week we will offer one or two activities that support food literacy such as planting seeds, food sampling, arts & crafts.
